By the end of 1947 the youth of Britain had become "Teenagers" a slang term imported from the USA.

In popular music the Big Band swing era was giving way to jazz. Following on in the next decade was "Rock and Roll".
His quiff is influenced by popular singers of the day. Her hair is worn in a softer fuller style than the early forties.
Neither can afford the luxury of choosing a clothing style. She probably wears "Bobby sox" white ankle socks; a fashion idea from America.
