1939-45 British Red Cross
The Red Cross
As well as their role in the nursing and ambulance service the British Red Cross members worked in less visible non-medical welfare areas.
It was through the Red Cross families sought to trace missing servicemen and Prisoners of War.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the Red Cross parcels sent to Prisoners of War were life saving.
