Contrasting buttons ,bows or buckles applied to the dress front
A feature comprising of contrasting buttons, bows and buckles on the bib area of a dress.
The one thing they have in common is that they usually serve no purpose and are attached for adornment only. This feature often takes the form of a false necktie with a multiple of two or more contrasting buttons.
Some examples are merely decoration in a contrasting fabric.
Within five years the wartime austerity measures would prohibit such decoration as a waste of material and labour.
