"Fall in and Follow me"
A fancy dress outfit was often an excuse to have a photograph taken.Sadly they usually tell us little, except perhaps how desperate our forebearers were for entertainment.
Normally I do not have a kind word to say about fancy dress photographs.

However, in this case, although the song on her dress " Fall in and follow me" sounds like a wartime song, it was a music hall hit of 1911. Not only does it date this picture but gives us a chance to hum a tune which this girl loved enough to devote many hours embroidering it on her dress.
A treasure for a family historian.
