1914-18 • Matching collar, belt & cuffs

about 1914-17

A tunic top or dress with matching fabric on the collar belt and cuffs can often be seen in First World War photographs.
The fabric used was often patterned but sometimes plain. I imagine it would have been contrasting and probably colourful.
There are variations where one of the three, usually the cuffs or belt are left plain.

Some munitions workers wore similar clothing but the passage of time has obscured whether fashion was influenced by working dress or the other way round.
